I am a native Iowan, and proud of it.  I was raised in the far northwest corner of the state and graduated from Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa in 1969. A year earlier I was married to my wife of 39 years, Deanna. I graduated from Western Theological Seminary in May of 1973 and immediately moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Deanna and I served Christ's Community Church for nearly 11 years. In March of 1984 we accepted the call of Meredith Drive Reformed Church in Des Moines and this has been our home ever since.

Grace and peace in Jesus Christ! In the Spring of 1974, I entered the doors of Meredith Drive Reformed Church with an eager heart and a small vocabulary in hand rhythmically receiving the love of Christ and God's Word through Preschool, Sunday School, Children's Choir, Confirmation class, and Vacation Bible School. I attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa in the fall of 1992 and began the journey toward ministry. In the fall of 1993 I met my husband Shane, and we were married at MDRC in 1997.

I came to Meredith Drive Reformed Church from Pella, Iowa where I graduated from Central College in 2002 with a B.A. in art and graphic design and a minor in music. Immediately following my graduation, I was working at Target when a worship director position opened up at Meredith Drive, where my husband Nick and I were attending worship. I felt called to serve the Body of Christ in that position and joined the Meredith Drive staff in July of 2002.

I'm privileged to be involved in the Senior Adult ministry at MDRC. In doing so, I'm doing Bible studies, trips, and pastoral care with this very special group of people. Having been an RCA pastor since ordination in 1956, you can see that the Senior Adults are very much my peers and contemporaries. I've lived and ministered in the Des Moines area since 1968, and am a graduate of Hope College and Western Seminary, both in Holland, Michigan.
I've been widowed since 2002, and am the father of three children and four grandchildren.
