I actually joined MDRC in 1975 with my family, appreciating its strong Biblical preaching, adult and kids Sunday School, and caring people. In life within this congregation, I experienced a pastoral call and became a part of MDRC's staff as a lay associate in 1986 in the areas of congregational care and children and family ministry. I entered an in-ministry seminary program through Bethel Seminary in Minneapolis that combined ministry and study and was the one of the first people in the Reformed Church in America to be ordained through this alternative experiential route. Within the RCA I have served on the Spiritual Gifts Task Force and I am currently a member of the Western Theological Seminary Board.

I am married since 1969 to Jerry Brown. We give God thanks for our children. We cherish our time with our daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law Mike, and granddaughter Neriah and our son Ben, daughter-in-law Jill, grandson Jacob, and granddaughter Teagan.
