Women's Ministry Brochure (PDF)

Women's Ministry at MDRC seeks

  • to bring women together in intergenerational
    gatherings for fellowship and mission
  • to benefit one another as we live in the
    different stage of life.

Our gatherings include:

  • Our September mission supper
We gather at church to share salads and a mission focus. We hear from a variety of mission speakers involved here in Des Moines. We gather a "harvest of apples" from our mission tree to benefit Moulton ministry and Amanda the panda.
  • Our Christmas Gatherings in homes
We meet in small groups in 12 different homes to hear a special tale of Christmas grace from 12 members of MDRC. This night together has helped people experience a meaningful beginning to the Advent season.
  • Our February Soup and Pie Fellowship Night
We eat together and focus on a common interest, i.e. collections, hobbies. We learn new things about one another and form new bonds.
  • Our spring retreat.
We gather in a retreat setting for shared time with a special retreat speaker. Last year we invited women who have immigrated to America in recent years to be our guests and to learn from one another. Our speaker was the director of GSUM. Two years ago our focus was spiritual healing and our speaker was Karin Granberg Michelsen from New York.

Other opportunities include:

  • Bible studies, this year is Jesus the One and Only by Beth More.
  • the lunch bunch. One of these groups meets monthly during the week and another one following worship so women can mingle and encourage one another.
